Please enter through the main entrance and proceed to the conference room on the 2nd floor, located up the stairs to the right of the entrance.

Elaine Schulman, Water Safety Services District Manager with NALCO Water will present on the following:

A growing body of scientific and epidemiological evidence is validating the statement made by Anaissie
et al in 2002 that "perhaps the most overlooked, important and controllable source of nosocomial pathogens is hospital water*."  Water can be a reservoir and a vector for healthcare-acquired infections caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, nontuberculous mycobacteria, Legionella pneumophila (the causative agent of Legionnaires’ disease) and other opportunistic pathogens. This presentation will:

  1. Explore how and why healthcare facility water systems can become reservoirs and vectors for healthcare-associated infections,
  2. the body of epidemiological evidence demonstrating the role of water and HAIs and
  3. strategies to reduce infection risk.

Please join us! CEU credits will be available. Lunch is provided. Pre-registration is requested by the end of the day on March 19th.
